Ina Alleco R. Silverio, is a writer for Bulatlat.com.She was a Fellow for Fiction in the 1996 Silliman Creative Writing Workshop and a Fellow for Filipino Fiction in the 1998 UP National Writers Workhop. During a break from her work in the Philippine progressive movement, she became the editor of Hong Kong News. She is the author of the book, ‘Ka Bel: The Life and Struggle of Crispin Beltran.’

  4. May I ask why did you leave the Philippines? Your writing is beautiful, powerful, inspiring and shows your obvious love for your people, so I don’t understand why you are not with them now in your homeland. I do not wish to offend, only to understand, if you see fit to tell me. Thank you.

    just like you we have our reasons why we left the country.
    I hope that we find our dreams where we are as we pursue life with our family.
    we live in beautiful philadelphia, a very historical town founded on libety and where the consiution of the united states was signed but now our civil liberties eddeare threatened by the ultra-right.
    it would be an honor for our newsmagazine if you can contribute with us.
    me and my wife pooled our resources together to embark on this and hope it will succeed.
